Momoko Gill – Rewind/Remind (Ben LaMar Gay Remix)

Hand Ben LaMar Gay a finished jigsaw and he’ll throw it in the air to see where the pieces land. That’s how the Chicago musician describes remixing, and on “Rewind/Remind” the pieces were Momoko Gill’s poetry, her voice and choir, drums, strings and flutes. They came down on a floor covered in his earliest influences, John Barry, Eddie Grant and the carnival processions of Guadeloupe, and some broke off while others stuck together in a different shape. Out now on Strut, following Gill’s debut.
